HGVT has the largest network of training centres in the UK.
Our network ensures that 95% of the UK population is never more that one hour away from one of our centres.
East Ayrshire is a land-locked council area in south-central Scotland with dozens of towns and villages that are home to more than 123,000 people. Each one of the local residents depends on professional drivers who bring in affordable consumer goods and provide public and private transport throughout the region. The HGV and PCV drivers providing service to East Ayrshire are an integral part of the local economy.
Your opportunity to become part of the haulage and transport industries in Scotland is made possible through the HGV Training Centre and our local training facility. We offer PCV and HGV training in East Ayrshire that is fast, affordable, and convenient. In no time at all, you can get your commercial driving licence and then begin looking for work as a lorry or bus driver. And make no mistake; professional driving jobs are abundant all over the UK.
Current estimates suggest there are more than 40,000 open driving positions across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. More than 100,000 new drivers will be needed to handle pending retirements and economic expansion over the next decade. What does this mean to you? It means that training to be a professional driver today will ensure a long and productive career in which redundancy will likely never be an issue. As long as you do your job, you will always have work.
Driving lorries, buses and other commercial vehicles professionally is no easy task. If it were, everyone would be doing it. The reality is that professional driving requires a specific body of knowledge and skill set that not everyone possesses. That is what training is all about. Our HGV training in East Ayrshire prepares you for your career by imparting the knowledge you need to pass your exams and teaching you the skills that will carry you through your career.
In order to get started on your training journey, you only need two things:
Don’t worry about the medical exam if your health is reasonably good; the exam is pretty routine. Your doctor will check your eyesight, vital signs, and overall general health to ensure you are fit. He or she will also ask questions about things such as:
It is best to be honest during the medical examination. If you were to have an accident as the result of an existing medical condition that you did not tell your doctor about, you could be criminally charged. Be honest and upfront about all of your health conditions. If you are not healthy enough to drive safely, you are better off being denied that opportunity.
HGV training in East Ayrshire is not a complicated process by any stretch of the imagination. The first step is to obtain your paperwork for the medical exam and your provisional entitlement. You can download the paperwork from the government website or get it directly from us. We provide all of our registered students with both the medical and provisional entitlement packages. With paperwork in hand and your medical exam complete, the training process is as follows:
That’s it. That is the entire process. Assuming you pass all four exams, you will be awarded a commercial driving licence and your initial CPC qualification card. Your qualification card will only be good for five years, so you should plan on returning to the HGV Training Centre to get the 35 hours of training you will need to renew your card. We offer ongoing CPC training to keep all professional drivers current.
There are other companies offering HGV training in East Ayrshire – none of them do it as well as we do. What makes us different? Our individualised support. When you enrol in our training programme, you will be assigned a vocational specialist whose job is to guide you throughout the entire training process. That specialist will be available to answer all of your questions and assist you with any problems you might encounter.
You will also have access to administrative staff who are always on hand to assist you with things such as completing and submitting paperwork, booking tests, and so on. And, of course, you will be instructed by professionals who have the knowledge and real-world experience to teach you what you need to know for your exams.
Everything we do at the HGV Training Centre is ultimately student-focused. Our company was founded years ago on that very principle. Preparing students to obtain their commercial driving licences is our number one goal and the most important way we can contribute to solving the ongoing driver shortage.
East Ayrshire is a wonderful place to live and work. If you would like to become part of the driving community that keeps the local economy strong, you need only contact us on our freephone number.
