HGV Training licences

HGV Training Courses are the bread and butter of the logistics industry. Wages have risen massively over the last decade and there has never been a better time to train! With 1000’s of jobs available, often paying over £550 a week, your HGV licence is a ticket to a potentially lucrative career in a growing industry.

With the UK now spending £billions online, the country requires more trained HGV drivers than ever before. People don’t visit the shops anymore, the shops come to them! And these deliveries must be made by qualified HGV professionals. HGV – or Heavy Goods Vehicles and LGV – or Large Goods Vehicles, are essentially the same. The term ‘HGV’ is used far more often but it is ‘LGV’ that appears on your licence. Check our quick guide below to the licence types on offer:

HGV Category ‘C’ Licence –this is also known as ‘Rigid Truck’ Licence or ‘Class II’ Licence. This licence enables you to drive any vehicle over 7.5t in weight, provided the body of truck is all one unit.

HGV Category ‘C+E’ Licence – this is also known as an ‘Articulated Truck’ Licence or a ‘Class I’ Licence. This licence enables you to drive any vehicle over 7.5t in an articulated body (where the cab separates from the trailer. In order to drive a ‘Cat C+E’ vehicle, you must first have taken and passed your test for the Category C Licence first.

HGV ‘Back to Back’ Licence – for those trainees who wish to go straight to the higher paid ‘C+E’ sector of the industry, the HGV Training Centre offers a ‘Back to Back’ course, where we will get you through your Category ‘C’ and Category ‘C+E’ Licences in one quick and easy course. After passing you ‘C’ Licence and receiving your licence back from the DVLA, we will then arrange your ‘C+E’ Licence immediately, allowing you to jump straight the big rigs!
