The HGV Training Centre is a renowned specialist in Horsebox Training. We supply many registered stables and private owners with the best, most cost-efficient Horsebox Training available. There are a few courses needed for equine transportation, the most common being:
‘B+E’ Car & Trailer Licence – the most basic of horsebox courses, a ‘B+E’ licence is required if you are towing a single or double horsebox behind your car or van. This course and test can be completed in only three days and our specialist trainers and equipment will give you the best chance of passing first time.
‘C1’ 7.5t Horsebox Licence – one step up from the ‘B+E’, this licence is required if your horsebox transportation is a stand-alone vehicle. A ‘C1’ Licence allows you to drive any vehicle that weighs up to 7.5t fully loaded. Most specialist horseboxes fit this bill and the training and test can be completed in under a week.
‘Cat C’ Horsebox Licence – this is officially an HGV licence and is required if your horse transportation vehicle is over 7.5t in weight loaded / unloaded. By gaining the ‘Cat C’ licence, you will also be entitled to drive a ‘C1’ vehicle, so it is more cost efficient and quicker to go for you ‘Cat C’ (which includes your ‘C1’) and then be able to driver any vehicle, of any weight, provided the vehicle is all one unit.
