As we cover in this blog regularly, driver training is a lucrative and endlessly helpful thing to do. You’re never short of jobs, and with the right training you can work all over the world. You may have heard the terms ‘LGV’ and ‘HGV’ to stand for Large Good Vehicle and Heavy Good Vehicle respectively.
The truth is that, while you’ll see these both used a lot, they actually mean the exact same thing. Both refer to a commercially sized vehicle which can be used to transport goods, making it a very flexible qualification to have. With this type of licence, you can operate an articulated lorry, bin truck, a transit van and construction vehicle, as well as many other types of professional vehicles too.
We offer several different types of HGV/LGV licence. These include:
With this licence, you can drive vehicles over 3,500kg with a trailer up to 750kg.
With this licence, you can drive vehicles over 3,500kg with a trailer over 750kg.
With this licence, you can drive vehicles between 3,500 and 7,500kg with a trailer up to 750kg.
With this licence, you can drive vehicles over 3,500kg with a trailer over 750kg.
Non-UK drivers, for example, drivers from the EU, can still drive professionally in this country. All you need to do is make sure you meet the minimum age requirements for your vehicle and have a full driving licence for the type of vehicle you want to drive. One thing you need to be aware of is that you may need to do some basic professional training in this country first, known as the Driver CPC. This is a universal test to check that you have the right skills to drive professionally on UK road.
We have over 60 training centres in the UK, so you’re bound to be able to find one near you, within just a few miles’ travel. There are many benefits of training locally with us, rather than with a small local company. First of all, we can get the best national training talent, so we’re ready to give you the very best training nationally and not just the people we can access in your local area. You also get maximum flexibility, so you’re not tied to just one area, and you get tailored local support too.
But best of all, you don’t need to spend money or time away from home because you can just commute there and back each day.
We’re the best training partner you could have. We have developed our techniques to help our students pass first time in most cases, and we have rolled it out countrywide to all our training centres. That means that even when you walk into your local centre, you’re getting the benefit of our national training programme and can tap into its success.
When you select HGV Training to be your training partner, you get all the following:
Commitment – We commit to supporting you through every aspect of training, and then beyond, right into employment.
Administration – From paperwork to booking, we take care of as much of the admin as possible, so you can focus on passing your test.
Equipment – Our teaching equipment is second to none, and always up to date. This means you train on the same equipment you can expect to drive when you’ve passed.
Instructors – All our instructors have real world experience, not just classroom experience.
Focus – Our training has been developed to get you through your exam and into employment – no more, and no less. That means you don’t waste time on useless exercises and can start earning as soon as possible.
